The Process

I specialize in crafting personalized ceremonies as a DC officiant for marriage, catering to a range of preferences from intimate elopements to grand celebrations. As a Washington DC, Maryland, and Virginia marriage officiant, my couples identify as non-religious and want a short, lighthearted ceremony that reflects their unique journey. I understand that ceremonies sometimes need to offer a sprinkling of faith traditions to honor more religious family members. Want to create a new ritual or tradition? Let's do it!

If you’re interested in working together, set up a time for a video chat, so we can get to know each other. I’ll talk through what I offer and what you’re looking for; from there, you’ll get an electronic contract, you sign it and pay the deposit, and then we let the creative juices flow!

In the lead-up to your big day, I will send regular communication confirming the ceremony details and connecting with anyone else who might be involved, like your wedding planner or party. On the day of, I arrive nice and early, officiate a great ceremony and sign your paperwork. As your DC, Maryland, and Virginia marriage officiant, I take care of submitting your license, give you a keepsake certificate, and a hard copy of the ceremony to remember for always.

When the party is over, you’ll have had a wonderful day that was memorable for all the right reasons!

A custom ceremony is the opportunity to share your love story with everyone on your big day. I’ll interview you both about your relationship and use that information to draft a fully custom ceremony. We’ll incorporate any traditions that feel right for you.

A standard ceremony is one whose framework is already written and then customized for you. If there are specific changes you want to make, that’s great. If you already know you want a specific reading or the chance to do personal vows, that’s fabulous too.

An elopement ceremony is booked four weeks or less from your wedding date and is celebrated with 6 guests or fewer. I personalize an existing ceremony, just like in a standard ceremony. If there is anything specific you feel strongly about having included in your big day, let me know up front.

Booking

I require a 50% deposit and signed contract to hold your date and time. The remaining cost, including any additional fee for weddings held more than 100 miles from Washington, D.C., is due 45 days before your ceremony. I do not accept bookings without meeting you first.

For any booking that is less than 45 days from the ceremony, your total cost is due up front. However, I am often available for last minute bookings! Reach out to see if I can accommodate your desired date.
